Cadence Announces Opening Keynote Speakers at First CDNLive! User Conference in Silicon Valley; Bernard Meyerson of IBM and Mark Edelstone of Morgan Stanley to Address 3-Day Technical Conference

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 28, 2005— Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) (Nasdaq:CDN) announced today keynote speakers for the inaugural North American CDNLive! user conference in Silicon Valley. Bernard Meyerson, vice president and chief technologist, Systems & Technology Group, IBM, and Mark Edelstone, managing director and global leader for Semiconductor Research, Morgan Stanley, will give separate keynote presentations at the opening session Sept. 12.

CDNLive!, a series of annual internationally hosted user conferences, is part of the Cadence Designer Network, a user community established earlier this year. The CDNLive! Silicon Valley technical conference is scheduled for Sept. 12-14 in Santa Clara, Calif., and registration for the event is now open at http://www.cadence.com/cdnlive/na/registration.aspx.

"We've worked hard to ensure this conference offers value for designers throughout our industry, regardless of their specific discipline," said Mike Catrambone of UTStarcom, chairman of the Cadence Designer Network. "I anticipate that this first CDNLive! Silicon Valley event will be a tremendous success and will be very well received by the hundreds of Cadence customers we expect to attend."

Each day of the conference will feature six parallel tracks of technical presentations and discussions that address the broad range of design challenges and issues facing today's engineers. Other events scheduled during the three-day conference include a "Cadence Technology Night," where Cadence will showcase its latest technology and design flows; a "Meet the Technologists" event, at which the company's developers and senior technologists will be available to interact with customers; an industry-wide "Designer Expo," bringing to one place 48 companies that team with Cadence to address the electronics design chain; and multiple technical product and methodology tutorials.

Cadence President and CEO Mike Fister will address attendees at the opening of the conference. Fister and other top executives also will hold a news conference Sept. 12.

"Our goal with the Cadence Designer Network and CDNLive! is to create a customer-driven user community and annual conferences that deliver great value to the myriad of designers who depend on our technology to do their jobs," said Ajay Malhotra, senior vice president of Marketing. "This conference will provide a forum for our customers to share their thoughts and ideas with each other and with Cadence technologists, to the benefit of everyone."

More information on the conference, including the complete schedule, is available at www.cadence.com/cdnlive.
